Our Story

From Research Lab to Sustainable Biomaterials Pioneer

Medoja Bio Private Limited is dedicated to developing environment-friendly sustainable biomaterials and nanobiomaterials, offering customisable solutions at both laboratory and industrial scales — from bench-scale research to full industrial production. Our mission is to provide advanced materials precisely tailored to the unique scientific and operational requirements of our clients. Explore our biomaterial product range →

The foundation of Medoja Bio was laid during the final year of our Director's PhD, where the research group focused on creating ceramic 3D-printed bone grafts for bone tissue engineering. Recognising the potential impact of this innovation, the idea was selected for BIRAC's BIG Call 14 initiative, enabling the team to transform academic research into a viable commercial biomaterial product. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic from early 2020 to October 2022, our researchers refined the technology through in-depth in vitro and in vivo studies, culminating in extensive pre-clinical evaluations of the bone graft formulation.

This research led to a synthetic calcium phosphate-based bone graft featuring inherent angio-induction and osteo-induction properties — a significant advancement in bone regeneration. According to peer-reviewed research published in Acta Biomaterialia, calcium phosphate ceramics represent the gold standard in synthetic bone substitutes — a benchmark Medoja Bio's formulations are engineered to meet and exceed. The technology underwent pilot clinical studies in around 20 patients, particularly in periodontal applications, with promising outcomes. Building on this success, Medoja Bio Pvt. Ltd. was officially incorporated in November 2022. The name "Medoja," derived from Sanskrit and symbolising "bone," reflects our core mission, driving scientific innovation to enhance bone regeneration technologies.

Today, Medoja Bio focuses on introducing cutting-edge biomaterial solutions that address critical challenges in orthopedic and dental markets. Our commitment to rigorous research, high-quality standards, and sustainable manufacturing practices underpins our goal to revolutionise bone grafting. By blending scientific excellence with eco-conscious principles, we create meaningful, long-term value for healthcare professionals and patients worldwide.
